Tottenham defender Destiny Udogie has been identified as the Premier League player allegedly threatened at gunpoint by an agent in north London.
The incident reportedly occurred late on 6 September in Cockfosters Parade, Barnet, while Udogie was out with a friend. Police arrested a 31-year-old man two days later on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence, blackmail, and driving without a licence. He has been released on bail as inquiries continue.
There is no suggestion the suspect was Udogie’s own agent. The Italian international, who was not on national duty during the September break, has continued to play for Spurs, returning in their 13 September win over West Ham.
A Tottenham spokesperson said: “We have been providing support for Destiny and his family since the incident and will continue to do so. Given this is a legal matter, we cannot comment any further.”
The Metropolitan Police confirmed no injuries were reported and that a second man, believed to be Udogie’s friend, was also allegedly threatened and blackmailed by the same individual.
