Juventus have dismissed head coach Igor Tudor following an eight-match winless run across all competitions, the club confirmed on Monday.
“Juventus FC announces that it has today relieved Igor Tudor of his duties as coach of the men’s first team, along with his staff,” the statement read. Massimo Brambilla, manager of the club’s reserve side, will take temporary charge.
Tudor, who replaced Thiago Motta in March, was Juventus’s first foreign coach since Didier Deschamps in 2006–07. A former Juve defender, he enjoyed a successful playing spell in Turin, winning two Serie A titles and reaching a Champions League final.
After guiding the team to fourth place last season and securing a return to the Champions League, Tudor’s side started the current campaign brightly but then faltered. Following five consecutive draws, Juventus suffered three straight defeats to Como, Real Madrid, and Lazio, failing to score in their last four matches.
Speaking after Sunday’s 1–0 loss to Lazio, Tudor said: “We prepared well, but we’re still missing something. We all share responsibility for this difficult period.”
Juventus, currently eighth in Serie A and six points behind leaders Napoli, will host Udinese on Wednesday under interim coach Brambilla.
